Alexandre d’Oriano, president of the “Cercle Anna de Noailles,” sent me this image of a portrait done in 1949, after Anna de Noailles’ death, which I discover now only.

 

Here is a woman in full maturity and awareness of her strength, her gaze at once present and going beyond the observer.
